Welcome to Reduce Kids' Risk...
Programs to reduce the risk of sexual assault and substance abuse.
According to the FBI Uniform Crime Reports, 95,136 rapes were reported in 2002. That’s one every two minutes or 33 per 100,000 people (66 per 100,000 women). And this is for incidents actually reported—and we know, rape is highly under reported.
Similarly, substance abuse is a problem that can have a particularly strong affect on young people. By the 8th grade, 52% of adolescents have consumed alcohol, 41% have smoked cigarettes, and 20% have used marijuana.
Although it is unlikely that any program can eliminate the risk of assault and sexual assault, a training program to identify the risk factors and provide strategies for escape can significantly reduce the chances of a traumatic encounter. And while we cannot shelter our children from drugs and alcohol, we can educate them on the effects of these substances on their developing minds and bodies so they may be equipped to make better decisions about their use.
We have developed in-school programs for grades 7 and up. Please take a moment to review the structure of the programs and learn about our backgrounds, and do not hesitate to contact us with any questions. |
